Love that Shares the Little

There are two things that have remained a mystery: Gravity is not strong enough stop the tree from growing upwards, and a fake is never known unless a real thing has been noticed.

As people travel from one part of the world to another, they soon feel rich or poor, depending on who they meet. When they meet those in better condition than them, they feel poor. When they meet those in worse conditions than them, they feel grateful and rich.

In the countrysides of Africa, not many people have a decent accommodation facilities. No elegant houses. No electricity. No luxurious life at all. Their modest way of life may have nothing to admire. Actually they may be objects of pity to those from the city. However, their social life, their happiness, and their contentment with the little that they have is so admirable.

If poverty is to be measured by the lack of good housing facility, then these people will be dimmed poor forever. But if wealth is a measure of contentment in what one has, these are the richest people the world can ever have.

In the city, no one opens the door to a stranger when it is raining, but in these villages, even when it is shining, people open doors for strangers to rest. They are willing to offer a drink of water which they walk at least a kilometer to fetch one jerrican at a time till they have enough. What can we best call this selfless act?

Most of the people in these villages have not attained very high level of education, but their good manners show clearly that they have had education that no formal school can ever offer. They don’t shout at the elders, they don’t cheat one another like it is a business norm in most cities, they’d rather die while protecting each other, than to live while others are in pathetic conditions. They value life more than possession.

Maybe they don’t have money, maybe they don’t have good housing, maybe they don’t have much that others have, but they still have something. Out of what they have, they share. They work hard to have enough to offer to someone. This defines their way of life.

Don’t be mean while using “I don’t have much” statement as an excuse. If God has given you less, He doesn’t expect you to lend a hand more than He has given you. He knows you have little,  but the fact is that you still have. If He gave you peace and not food, share the peace and stop wasting time saying, “I wish I had money”.

Even to the one given little, something is expected. A hand that doesn’t give should not expect to receive.
