Peace!

Someone asked a great teacher a great question. This he said;

“Supposing we attain the peace that the world is looking for, a point when everyone is happy, what else would we strive for?”

In response, the teacher asked him;

“Supposing you get all the knowledge you want, the job you want, the house you want, the family you dream of, and the money, and everything, what would you ask? What would you live for?”

We live in a time where emotions and thoughts control nearly everything. We live to blame or cheer based on thoughts and emotions. We are quite preoccupied with these two things to an extent that we lose the meaning of life in our trying to contain our thoughts and emotions.

Life, the core of a human existence has been narrowed down to the struggles and toils that people suffer everyday, and the products that such toils bring.

Today, it is much easier to define a person by their vocation, much less profession than it is by who they truly are. It’s easier to call one a doctor, or an engineer, because such brings happiness to them. They are delighted in their work to an extent that they blow up if anyone messes up their toil in any way.

Let’s think it this way; of what use is a doctor if there’s no sick person? Of what use is a lawyer, or a judge if there’s no dispute among people? Truly they’ll be rendered useless in the community. Sadness will be part of them if everything is peaceful. Infact, they’ll be the next cause of problems, because jealousy and resentment might fill their hearts.

What then, are we to delight in the troubles that we go through because it gives us what to do? In no ways! If we who claim to desire peace, yet celebrate the troubles that is going around, we make troubles be our portion of peace. If then trouble becomes our peace, what then shall we call ourselves?

According to world population review, the earth is more than 84% religious. It’s no secret that most of these religious sects preach peace as the core of its basis of existence. The biggest question then is, why are there a lot of troubles still? Why do people fight for political power still? Why is there still too much racism among people? Could it be that the about 16% nonreligious people are the ones behind all these troubles? The instincts within these nonreligious folks also testify to the need of peace as the core of existence.

For a long time now, the fights between the most popular religious groups in the world is no secret. From the middle east, to Africa, to America, the fight between Christian community, and Islamic community is so real. If everyone who claimed Jesus, the Prince of peace was living it out loudly, in truth, and in spirit, how different would the world be shaped by Christians?

Everything that we need for our survival has been given to us by our creator. A lunatic neither saves, nor works hard, yet the Lord sustains them for many days. If a sane man refuses to use the sanity that the Lord has given him, death comes to such while they see. Why then should one live with jealousy over the portion that God has given to another?

If God gave us what we need for our survival, then, would not He define for us the life as well? If life be the basic of our existence on earth, wouldn’t He teach us better ways of living it? Or has He created us only to solve problems forever? A funeral service company would feel bad if none dies, wouldn’t they? Shall we continue in such life forever? Should other people’s pain bring joy to our hearts, yet we claim to seek peace?

It is written;

“For from him and through him and for him are all things.”

If then all things are for Him, then He becomes the reason for our life. He gives all things the reason for existence, both in peaceful moments, and in troubled times. If He gives the Doctors the knowledge to heal people, the Doctors should celebrate if everyone is healthy. If the police are to command peace internally, they should celebrate if there’s no crime.

Failing to understand that everything exists for God has triggered a lot of vices in the community. Jealousy has found its habitation in human hearts because people don’t want to live as God wants, but rather, as they think. Brothers are fighting each other because they think no one should go higher, economically, socially, or in any way.

How then can one receive the reasons for existence that the creator offers?

Trust and obey.

Trust that the creator knows better than you do. Trust that the creator’s ideas are what we need to make us peaceful. Trust that the user manual for operating the systems in you can only be given by the creator. In trying anything outside the creator’s ways, we end up causing more mess.

Then obey everything that the creator tells you. It sometimes will sound bad, but trust me, He knows it better. In your obedience, you will find peace, and the same will be transferred to those around you, and the ripple effects will end up affecting the whole world.
